After much nagging my friends finally convinced me to start jotting down my thoughts, feelings and impressions on the one thing I love the most- travel.
So you know how when you interview for a job a question that often comes up is “how would you describe yourself in 3 words?”. Well, for me, that “word” is FOMO. For those of you who don’t know what this is I included a description below:
anxiety that an exciting or interesting event may currently be happening elsewhere, often aroused by posts seen on a social media website.“I realized I was a lifelong sufferer of FOMO”
Now, it just so happens that my case of FOMO is particularly severe. It’s actually getting to the point where hearing about my room mate’s super exciting dream triggers it! Pretty. Severe. But, I am very happy I have it. Why? Because it pushes me to do new things, discover new places and literally venture out and explore life in every way possible. Not only does this work to my advantage, it does so for my friends as well. And they know just how to use it! It’ll be an afternoon/day/night whatever, I’m lazy and want to stay in but my friends are going out and about. They ask me to come. I say no. They ask again promising how much fun it’ll be. I say no. Slowly I feel the FOMO kicking in, impairing my decision making capabilities. What if they meet really interesting people? What if something completely random, bizarre and/or unexpected happens? Surely, I could not NOT be a part of that. And so it goes….
So, without further ado this blog will showcase a visual representation, though a condensed one, of what happens when you let FOMO steer your life (all good stuff- I promise).
